Obituary for Frank R. Skariot Jr.

Frank R. Skariot Jr. 79, of West Middletown, passed away on Tuesday, December 5, 2017 in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh.

He was born on April 22, 1938 in Washington, son of the late Frank P. & Julie McCloskey Skariot.

Mr. Skariot was a 1958 graduate of Trinity High School and was a veteran of U.S. Navy serving during Vietnam, honorably discharged in 1962 as a Seaman.

He was employed by Marianna Coal Mine, Mine #58 for 18 years, until a fire shut the mine down in 1981. He then worked for Hartman & Hartman Corporation of Washington, as a Tool Room Man for 18 years, retiring in 2000.

Mr. Skariot was a member of United Mine Workers and attended First Baptist Church of Washington.

He enjoyed spending time with his family and hunting and fishing.

He had lived in West Middletown for over 40 years.

On August 11, 1974, he married Carol Patricia “Patty” Brownlee, who survives.

Also surviving are his children, Melissa (Jason) Rodzinak of Lebanon, OH; Thomas (Sarah) Skariot of Bentleyville; Tiffany (Brian) Scears of Washington; and Frank Skariot of West Middletown; eight grandsons, Jonathan & Benjamin Temple, Seth Skariot, Blaine Skariot, James & Austin MacKinney, Gage & Gavin Skariot; a great granddaughter, Adilyn Rose Temple; two sisters, Tillie (Larry) Simpson of Washington, Patty Brennan of West Palm, FL; and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased in addition to his parents are, a sister, Helen Calzada; and a brother, Stan Skariot.

Friends and family will be received from 6-8pm on Wednesday, December 6, in the Jerome A. Stefkovich Funeral Home, Inc., 18 Campbell Street, Avella, PA 15312, where additional visitations will be held from 9am, until the time of the service, at 11am on Thursday, December 7, with Pastor Steve Dunlap officiating.

Burial will be in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville. Full Military Rites will be accorded graveside by American Legion Bert C. Siders Post 643 of Avella.
