Obituary for Lillian Gonzalez

Lillian Gonzalez, 91, of Avella passed away on Tuesday, October 10, 2017 in the Washington County Health Center, Chartiers Township.

She was born on October 20, 1925 in Avella, daughter of the late Steve and Ezelina Avetta.
Mrs. Gonzalez was a 1943 graduate of Avella High School.

She was a “Rosie the Riveter” welding at American Bridge in Ambridge during WWII and then worked at RCA in Canonsburg until 1953.

Mrs. Gonzalez was a lifelong resident of Avella and was a member of St. Michael Roman Catholic Church, she was a social member of Polar Star Mutual Benefit Society and SNPJ Lodge 292 all of Avella.

In her youth she enjoyed bowling, with a high score of 299 and won numerous trophies for target shooting with a bow and arrow. She loved to cook for her family and dance the Jitter Bug with her husband Pin. She lived a full life and will be missed by many.

On February 14, 1953 she married Joseph “Pin” Gonzalez, who died on April 7, 1987.

She was the last of her immediate family.

Surviving Mrs. Gonzalez are: two sons, Joseph Kim (Liza) Gonzalez of Avella and Jess Gonzalez of Brownsville; four grandchildren, Kimberly (Dustin) Winters, Joseph Gonzalez, Zack Gonzalez and Raymond Gonzalez.

Deceased in addition to her husband and parents are: a daughter, Anita L. Gonzalez; a sister, Edna Tranquill; and a brother Leo Avetta.

At the request of the deceased, there will be no visitations, funeral service and burial are private.

Memorial contributions can be made to the St. Michael Church Building Fund at 97 Highland Ave. Avella, PA 15312 or the Avella Volunteer Fire Dept. at PO Box G, Avella, PA 15312.
